Niger State Government welcomed the management team of Mercy Medical University, Iwo, Osun State, to the Government House in Minna.



 

On Wednesday, 16th April 2025, the Niger State Government welcomed the management team of Mercy Medical University, Iwo, Osun State, to the Government House in Minna.


In a powerful move to strengthen the health sector, His Excellency, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, announced the government’s commitment to sponsor 2,000 students across all 25 local government areas to study medical-related courses in Nigerian institutions.


Notably, 250 students will be sent to Mercy Medical University as part of this initiative, under a partnership that will soon be formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and backed by the State Assembly.


The Governor also expressed gratitude to the University’s Governing Council for naming a newly constructed Senate Building after him  a gesture he described as deeply memorable.


This collaboration marks a significant milestone in expanding access to healthcare and empowering future medical professionals, especially in rural and underserved areas.
